The mayor of Moscow promised to listen to the “meaningful statements” of the participants in the rally against the demolition of five-story buildings

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, after a rally against the demolition of five-story buildings, said that the city authorities would heed the "meaningful statements" made at the rally. This is stated in a message posted on Twitter by the mayor of Moscow.

“In the course of work on the draft [renovation program], the opinions of Muscovites will be taken into account as much as possible,” Sobyanin wrote.

• A rally against the renovation program, which provides for the demolition of five-story residential buildings in Moscow, was held on May 14 on Sakharov Avenue. The action was approved by the city authorities.
• According to the White Counter project, more than 20,000 people came to the rally. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Moscow reported eight thousand participants. The mayor's office approved an application for holding a rally with up to 5,000 participants.
• Some participants of the action expressed dissatisfaction not only with the renovation program, but also with Sobyanin's work as mayor.
• The State Duma is considering a bill regulating the demolition of five-story buildings in Moscow. In the first reading, the bill, which caused numerous questions among the residents of the city, was adopted by the State Duma in mid-April. By the second reading, the Moscow mayor's office promised to introduce a number of amendments to the document.
