Awarded the "Golden Lions" of the Venetian Biennale

The German pavilion was awarded the “golden lion” of the 57th Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art, the winner of the prize as the best artist of the main project of Biennale was Franz Erhard Walter (Germany).

According to The Art Newspaper Russia , in the German pavilion (curator - Susann Pfeffer), the five -hour synthetic performance "Faust" of the artist Anna IMHOF is represented.

According to the wording of the international jury Biennale, the German pavilion was awarded “for a powerful and disturbing installation that raises the urgent issues of our time, immersing the viewer into a state of discomfort; The original answer is the architecture of the pavilion, the work of IMHOF is also characterized by an accurate combination of objects, images, bodies and sounds. ”

Frances Erhard Walter “Golden Leo” were awarded “for work that combines forms, color, fabric, sculpture, performance and involves the viewer, for the radical and multi -component nature of his work, which influenced contemporary art and proposed a way of survival in transitional times.”

Hassan Khan (Great Britain-Egypt), the jury was awarded the “Silver Leo” to the promising young artist, artists Charles Atlas (USA) and Petrite Halil (Kosovo-Germania-Italia), as well as the Brazil pavilion, were awarded special mentions.

The 57th Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art will last until November 26, 2017. The theme of the main project of Biennale is “Viva Arte Viva” (“Long live living art!”). In the pavilion of Russia (curator- Sylvia Burini ), the project “Theatrum Orbis Terrarum” of artists Grisha Bruskin, Sasha Pirogova and the art group Recycle (George Kuznetsov and Andrey Blokhin) is presented.
