KS will decide whether the implementation of hundredths of political activities

The Levada Center appealed in the Constitutional Court (CS) amendments to the law on foreign agents, equating sociological studies to political activity.

This was reported by Interfax with reference to the director of the Levada Center Lev Gudkov. He clarified that we are talking about the amendments that were made to the law in June 2016.

The Levada Center was included in the register of non-profit organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent, in early September 2016, following an unscheduled documentary audit conducted by the Moscow Department of the Ministry of Justice.

“It turns out that our activity, which, according to the earlier version of the law after the audit, was not recognized by the prosecutor's office and the Ministry of Justice of the political, after amendments to the law, retroactively, is recognized as political activity,” Gudkov explained.

Thanks to these amendments, he believes, the law received a "clearly unlawful character."

“The point is not only in the status of a foreign agent“ Levada Center ”, but also in general problems. The law is of arbitrary nature, blocks the activities of a number of civilian organizations, this violates our civil rights, ”said the director of Levada-Tsetra.
