Every day in prison, at least 50 prisoners are executed, Jones said. At least most of the executions, as follows from the publication, are performed through hanging. To hide the facts of reprisals, the bodies of the dead are burned in a crematorium built in the prison.

These killings, like other Assad crimes, are committed, "obviously, with unconditional support from Russia and Iran," Jones emphasized. Russia, according to the official, "either contributes to the atrocities (Syrian) of the regime, or turn a blind eye to them."

Last week, during a meeting with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergei Lavrov, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said that "Russia should now urgently use its huge impact on the Syrian regime." As the publication notes, the current statement of Jones, made at a special briefing, is significant not only in its direct content, but also with the sharpness with which the call to Russia is formulated to use its influence on Assad.

The report on the executions in Saidnai, entitled "Humanian", Amnesty International published on February 7 this year. It was reported that only from March 2011 to December 2015 at least 17,723 people were killed in prison.
