The main person involved in the first (Sevastopol) case of Crimean Muslims Ruslan Zetullaev, sentenced to 12 years of strict regime on charges of membership in Hizb Ut-Tahrir, began a new hunger strike. This was announced on his page by lawyer Emil Kurbedinov, who, together with his colleague Edem Semedlyaev, on Monday, visited the Police in the pre-trial detention center-1 in Rostov-on-Don.
The 31-year-old Zeytullaev announced the new hunger strike from May 15. As follows from the publication, the Politsek protests against the sentencing issued to him, as well as against repressions regarding other Crimean Tatars.
In addition, Kurbedinov said that Ukrainian consuls are still refused by various far-fetched pretexts to admit the convict. "Ruslan initiates the abandonment of Russian citizenship," the lawyer noted. The publication does not explain whether Zeytullaev accepted Russian citizenship even before the arrest or it is imposed by the convicted by the authorities. Previously, the Politzek repeatedly emphasized that he is a citizen of Ukraine.
In the near future, a number of Zeytullaev’s appeals will be published, the lawyer said.
After the first hunger strike, he also wrote Kurbedinov, the health of the politicalese was completely restored. “It holds perfectly, mood and mood are decisive,” the post says.
The first hunger strike, with similar requirements, Zeytullaev kept from April 4 to 26, withdrawing it immediately after the sentence is announced . Although none of the hunger strikes were fulfilled, the Politsek said that he was terminating the action at the requests of relatives, close and authoritative figures of the Crimean Tatar National Movement, as well as due to a sharp deterioration in health. At the same time, Zeytullaev assured that "this is his first hunger strike, but not the last and he will not stop the struggle for the rights of his people."
The National Leader of the Crimean Tatars, the former Soviet political prisoner Mustafa Dzhemilev and the deputy chairman of the Medzhlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilmi Umarov, turned to the Politzek calls to remove the hunger strike to Politzek. Online Flashmob in support of Zeytullaev was held in April by famous Ukrainian cultural figures, politicians and social activists, including writers Oksana Zabuzhko, Sergey Zhadan and Andrey Kurkov, theater and film director Akhtem Seitablaev (shot the first Crimean Tatar feature film "Haytarma"), director of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory Vladimir Vyatrovich, Dzhemilev and another former Soviet Politsyk - Chairman of the Association of Jewish Organizations and Communities (VAADA) of Ukraine Joseph Zisels. Activists in Turkey and the USA joined the flash mob.
The verdict of Zeytullaev was sentenced by the collegium of the North Caucasus District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don under the chairmanship of Anatoly Kolesnik. Politzeck was announced guilty under part 1 of Article 205.5 of the Russian Criminal Code (organization of activities of a terrorist organization). The prosecutor Gennady Trukhanov requested a 17-year term for the defendant.
This was the second sentence in the case. In September last year, according to the results of the first process, the accusation of Zeytullaev was retrained to part 2 of the same article of the Code (participation in the activities of a terrorist organization), and the political zyt received seven years of general regime . However, the prosecutor’s office filed an appeal to the Supreme Court, and there the sentence to the Politzek was canceled, and the materialswere returned to his regard to a second consideration . In the first process, the same prosecutor Trukhanov demanded for Zeitullaev the same 17 years of strict regime.
Politzek himself did not plead guilty. He repeatedly stated that he was persecuted by national and religious signs.
Three other defendants in the case - Nuri (Yuri) Primov, Rustem Vaitov and Frat Saifullaev - were sentenced to five years of general regime each of Article 205.5. None of them also pleaded guilty. The prosecutor did not dispute the sentences to these defendants, and in December the decisions entered into legal force. Primov is contained in the Mari IK-5 in the village of Yasius Sovetsky District, Vaitov-in IK-1 in Kurgan, and Saifullaev-in the Kirov IK-17 in Omutninsk. The last two colonies have a torture reputation. It is known that Vaitova in the colony was repeatedly sent to a schizo for refusing to become a scammer.
