The administration of Samara refused to approve the applicants for a "rainbow flash mob" from the LGBT organization "Avers". The action is timed to coincide with the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. This was reported on May 15 on the website of the electronic publication Gagarin Park.
The response of the officials states that “the goals of the planned event do not comply with the provisions of the Constitution of the Russian Federation”, though without specifying what exactly and what provisions of the Constitution does not comply.
The Rainbow Flash Mob is an annual event held on the day when, 27 years ago, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses and recognized homosexual orientation as one of the normal options.
