In Russia, they can create a state operator for collecting Big Data

A special structure for regulating Big Data may appear in Russia. Its creation provides for the draft amendments to the law "On Information".

According to Vedomosti, information will be collected from all large user data (BPD) operators, which can be both state bodies and legal or individuals.

To finance the work of the state operator, they can create a special fund. It will be replenished on the quarterly deductions of BPD operators from data processing for advertising activities. The rate can be 2 %.

According to the publication with reference to the reporting of companies, the deductions to the fund from Yandex and Mail.ru Group could amount to 380 million and 96 million rubles, respectively.

Officials suggest that Roskomnadzor give control over the processing of BPD.
