Fifty shades of sulfur

The Moscow prosecutor’s office began a check on the fact of exceeding the maximum permissible concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the outskirts of the southeast district of Kapotny, where the Moscow oil refinery is located. This is reported by Interfax.

The prosecutor has not yet expressed accusations at the factory owned by Gazpromneft. The MNPZ itself assures that the excess concentrations at the enterprise are not recorded.

On the night of May 14, in the areas around Kapotny, an excess of the MPC of hydrogen sulfide was already noted . In the area of ​​Orekhovo-Borisovo, South at the southern border of Moscow at 5 a.m. Sunday, the norm of maintenance of this gas in the air was exceeded 17 times. At the same time, the South Orekhovo-Borisovo does not borders directly from Kapotny-they are shared not only by the Bratevo area, but also by the Moscow River. Less significant excesses were recorded in the areas even more than remote from the hood, for example, in Tsaritsyn.

On May 15, it was reported that the MNPZ a day earlier suspended the reception of raw materials from Transneft due to a certain “abnormal situation”.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday it became known that in Kapotne itself at 1 hour in the morning, the automatic station of Mosecomonitoring recorded the excess of the MPC of hydrogen sulfide by 51.4 times. By 6 in the morning, the excess of the content of toxic gas dropped to 2.9 normal, but by 9 o’clock it increased to 9.85 MPC.

In the capital's head of the Ministry of Emergencies, however, they said that the automatic mosecomonitoring sensor probably failed.

At the MNPZ, leaks of oil and toxic gases have repeatedly occurred. In particular, the excess of the MPC of hydrogen sulfide in Kapotne and neighboring areas was reported in January and April of this year. A criminal case was opened on the fact of the January leak.
