The owner of the ECH group Grigory Berezkin, in case of purchase of RBC, will create a single media holding on the basis of his assets. The businessman himself told about this on the sidelines of the Congress of the RSPP Bureau, RNS reports .
“There are different audiences everywhere, there is a lot of synergy between them, it will, of course, be a single holding. There we will be as much as possible to use all the synergy, which is in this business, there are a lot of it, ”he explained.
Berezkin owns the Komsomolskaya Pravda Publishing House and the Moscow newspaper Metro. The entrepreneur is also among the shareholders of the Russian Railways Partner Publishing House.
We are talking about unification at the corporate level, and not about the unification of the editorial offices, the representative of Berezkin said Republic.
Earlier on May 17, Berezkin, in a conversation with the RNS correspondent, was not able to clarify the deadlines for the completion of the transaction on RBC. “As we know, with plans: if you want to make the Lord laugh, tell him about your plans,” he said .
On May 10, Berezkin said that the application to the FAS on the purchase of 65.43% of RBC shares was submitted on April 28. The businessman announced the plans to purchase a media holding on April 18.
According to the sources of Vedomosti, the transaction amount will be “significantly less” $ 200 million. Forbes wrote that the parties coordinate the cost of RBC debt ($ 40–100 million), and the RBC shares are estimated at $ 30 million, but the buyer would like to pay less. Sources of Kommersant mentioned that Berezkin was ready to buy RBC for about $ 100 million, but the price was reduced almost doubled.
The fact that the ONEXIM group Mikhail Prokhorova resumed negotiations on the sale of RBC was known on April 11. As vc.ru wrote then, Prokhorov’s asset forces “powerful pressure” by the deputy head of the Russian Presidential Administration Alexei Gromov. He allegedly considered the “personal insult” of the publication of RBC about protest rallies and a note on changing the agenda of federal television channels.
