Google shared the details about Android O

In the framework of the annual conference that opened on the eve of the Google I/O developers, Google presented in more detail the mobile OC Android O, the preliminary version of which was released in March.

According to TJ , one of the main innovations of the second version of Android O for the developers was the Vitals service designed to monitor the "vital indicators" of the smartphone and extension the battery life of the device, as well as capable of turning off the application potentially dangerous for the work of the application.

Also in the new version of Android, the Google Play Protect function appeared, which can find malicious applications on a smartphone, block and delete them from the device. The same function, like the Find My iPhone service in iOS, will allow the owner to find a lost smartphone. Previously, for this, users of Android devices had to resort to third-party applications.

Another new Android O function is called the Notification Dots - with its help for each installed application, the user will be able to see individual notifications. To do this, it will be necessary to press and hold the program icon on the working screen of the device or in the general section with notifications.

Changes also affected the function of copying and inserting the text, which received support for artificial intelligence. The new algorithm will be able to find names, the names of companies and institutions, addresses and phones in the text: by long or double pressing, they will be allocated entirely automatically. So, by highlighting the address of the institution, the user will be able to find it in the card application in one touch, and the email address will launch the Gmail application.

Finally, during the presentation, the possibility of automatic entry of logins and passwords in applications was mentioned if they were previously saved in the Google Chrome browser after the services entered in the web version. Representatives of the company also mentioned the possibility of watching a video from YouTube in the "picture-in-picture" mode, the existence of which became known in March.

The possibilities presented at the conference are available in the Android O Developer Preview 2 version, the testing of which began on May 17 on Nexus 5x and 6P devices, Nexus Player and Pixel. The official launch of Android O is expected in the summer of this year. At the same time, the company did not reveal the full name of the next version of Android, although the most likely option is Android Oreo - in honor of the famous cookies.
