Putin appointed a new authorized person at the ECHR

President Vladimir Putin has appointed Deputy Minister of Justice Mikhail Halperin an authorized person in Russia under the European Court of Human Rights. The decree on this is posted on the Kremlin website.

In 2005, 33-year-old Halperin graduated from the Peteurg State University with a degree in jurisprudence, has been working in various positions since 2010, in September 2015 he was appointed Deputy Minister.

Putin fired the previous authorized person at the ECHR , Deputy Minister of Justice Yevgeny Matyushkin, March 29. The official said that he was departing of his own free will, and explained the resignation of the upcoming operation, which would require a long recovery. Simultaneously with Matyushkin, several high-ranking security officials lost their posts: the deputy director of the Federal Bailiff Service Tatyana Ignatieva, the head of the Russian traffic police, Lieutenant General Viktor Nilov and the head of the state of the State Felder Service, Major General Alexander Ivanov.
