The conclusion of the Squelikov agreement with the investigation follows from the resolution of the Kyiv District Court of Simferopol on the extension of the detention of another person involved in the case, Vladimir Dudka. Sperybikov with the accused, the requirements provided for by Chapter 40.1 of the Code of Criminal Procedure." This chapter describes the "special procedure for making a court decision" when the defendants concluded an agreement on cooperation with the investigation.

After his arrest, the relatives of Shtyblikov entered into an agreement with the lawyer of Agora Alexander Popkov, but the political prisoner, under the pressure of the special services, refused the services of an independent lawyer.

All three defendants were charged with part 1 of Article 30 - paragraph "A" of part 2 of Article 281 of the Russian Criminal Code (preparation for sabotage as part of an organized group).
