US court overturns drone registration

The U.S. Court of Appeals in the District of Columbia overturned the drone registration requirement. If this ruling is not repealed, US residents will no longer have to register their drones with the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA).

The court found that the FAA has no right to regulate the personal use of model aircraft, as well as drones. The department has seven days to challenge the decision.

The decision on the need to register drones has been in force in the United States since 2015. To register, drone owners must provide authorities with their name, home address, and email address, and pay a $5 fee. After that, a registration sticker with a unique aircraft number must be stuck on the drone.
