The preliminary results of the presidential election in Iran showed the victory of Rukhani

The current president of Iran Hassan Rukhani won a significant margin in the elections in the country. Reuters writes about this, citing a source familiar with early results.

“Everything is finished, Rukhani is the winner,” the source said.

According to Reuters, according to preliminary data, 21.6 million people voted behind Rukhani, 14 million - 14 million for his opponent Ibrahim Raisi.

The turnout in the elections amounted to 70%, about 40 million people voted in total.

Later, on the state television of Iran, it was reported that from the calculated 26 million bulletins Rukhani gained 14.6 million, and 10.1 million voted for Raisi.

On May 19, the 12th elections were already held in Iran. In total, four candidates took part in them: Hasan Rukhani, Ibrahim Raisi, Mostafa Hashemi-Taba and Mostafa Aka-Mirsalim.

Hassan Rukhani has been the president of Iran since 2013. About 18 million Iranians voted in his previous elections.
