In the afternoon, when the interrogations were still going on, more than 50 people, including famous artists, came to support the Gogol Center team. Starting from the fact that he does not hide his independent position on various political issues and ending with the fact that at the level of aesthetics his theater and his manner is a red rag for conservatives from the Ministry of Culture and people applying for state budgets and presenting him a more convenient agenda. Cyril is a multiple and multi -level stimulus. But in this equation there is perhaps the only and most important link - spectators.

The audience voted “for” Gogol-Center with their feet and their money. The theater, which for its previous life was one of the least visited, has no free places with Serebrennikov all the years.

And around him a terribly interesting life is twisted, not only theatrical. She may not be directly related to Serebrennikov’s theatrical works, but this life, incredibly substantial, which he knows how to organize around. And without him she is not.

There was a story with the Theater.Do, which has been stretching for many years, there was a Tangaiser, there is no need to endure any warnings here, everything is clear for a long time. In this system, any independence, liberty, aesthetic radicality and officiality in statements on socio-political issues are fraught with various kinds of troubles. In the case of Cyril, I am sure that for many years the theater and the theater are pressure.

The strangest thing is that the authorities are looking for some crazy balance. At first, they are quite sourly attacked by their ideological allies, when they are turning off the wrong way somewhere, then they hit with all their strength in a free culture. It seems to them that these are equal abbreviations in terms of liberty. As always, they are mistaken, since Cyril is unique and it is impossible to balance him from them.

Cyril does not need to be hapuzha in any sense. When a person has talent, it is important for him to have performances, and that these performances glorify Russian art. In fact, this is a blow to Russia. I would say, just a slap in order not to say, a slap in the face.

I wish Cyril all the best! The day after tomorrow I have the performance “Russian Beauty”, I will come to the theater and express myself again, because something is happening with which it is simply impossible to agree. I recall the most monstrous reprisals with our outstanding directors: Meyerhold, Mikhoels ...

Of course, this is intimidation! The culture is brought into such anxiety that it is difficult to work, it is difficult to produce something meaningful. And the worst thing is that not only the one who does such free things as Serebryannikov, but everyone who does not please can fall under the distribution. But whatever is not pleasing! - I, like all of us, so far I know very little about what is happening. But, no matter what they declare, there are no faith to the investigating authorities. Especially in economic articles: they are now used as punitive. And very rarely - for its intended purpose. Here, in my opinion, the action of intimidation is happening.

Our "theater.doc" is not the State Theater. I do not understand anything in subsidies. But 200 million rubles, which the Gogol Center “counted” the Investigative Committee (in one of the versions-after all, the numbers walk different!), A lot for the theater budget. Just science fiction! It would be a question of a movie or an international festival - well ... still comparable numbers would be comparable.

But for the repertoire theater, this is unthinkable money.

For five years, Cyril Serebrennikov created a powerful theater. This is a success story. . I don’t doubt that every penny allocated to the Gogol Center went to work. The theater itself earned on ticket sales, attracted the funds of philanthropists. They had a huge repair, almost the reconstruction of the building. And there obviously not a single penny was stolen, everyone put it into business. The experience of the Gogol Center Economic must be studied and distributed. And instead ...

And we have no organization, neither public nor state, which could verify the data of the Investigative Committee - and which we ourselves would firmly believe. I treat Cyril with great artistic and human respect. I think that he takes a place in the theater, which is not subject to anyone else. This place is bright, remarkably sounding and necessary for our fatherland. These two people are incompatible with any criminal prosecution. This is obvious to all figures of the theater and personally for me.

If this is an attempt to squeeze him out of the country, this is a banal thought. The country is free while you can freely leave and come. And Serebryannikov puts performances in the West, which once again confirms that we are still strong, at least on the field of art.

I am sure that this lawlessness will return to those who do this. The more you clamp the spring, the stronger it shoots. People like Serebrennikov should be preserved, and not try to arrange such pods.
