The arrests in the case of the "White Legion", which in Belarus call the case of patriots, began on March 21. The participants of the officially registered sports club Patriot and the activists of the “Maladog of the Front”, the rescuer and special forces, the book trader and manufacturer of “embroidery” were arrested - only 35 people. Everyone was presented to the article "Training or preparing persons to participate in the riots." According to investigators, the mass riots were planned on March 25, at the planned protest “Volya Day”. Two weeks later, the second article was added to the duty charge: the creation of an illegal armed formation.
The White Legion appeared in Belarus in the early nineties and acted on the principle of a sports and patriotic club led by former officer Sergei Kuprev. To date, it does not exist. "Legionnaires" have always participated in the opposition shares and ensured the safety of other participants. Some arrested in March really once related to the White Legion. But most in those days still went to kindergarten. Nevertheless, they are trying to connect them all with a structure that has not existed for 15 years.
What is happening with the accused of the KGB pre -trial detention center, one can only guess. However, now guesses are not needed. Sergei Kuntsevich was supposed to deliver to the site in front of the Academy of Sciences, where he was appointed a gathering of participants in the will of the will on March 25, sound -integrating technique. And before that, he helped Nikolai Statkevich hide from the "outdoor". Kuntsevich was arrested on March 24. On TV, they told that in his car they found Molotov cocktails. And last weekend, he was able to transfer Statkevich from the pre -trial detention center: in the evening after his arrest he was tortured by a stamper, trying to find out where Statkevich was hiding.
At the moment, 16 people remain in custody. The rest has changed the preventive measure. On May 21, the young historian Yevgeny Polterzhitsky was transferred under house arrest. According to his father, he looks oppressed, she does not want to say anything. It was he who was shown on Belarusian television the day after mass arrests: one and a half, showed the Cachesum “Cacron” in the forest under the columns, which was a bunch of metal reinforcement dumped to the ground.
Only one person from the "case of patriots" publicly called the price of his freedom. Rather, not even freedom, but subscriptions about non -departure. Sergey Palchevsky, an activist-milledfront, was arrested on March 22. The measure of restraint was changed on April 15. The next day, Palchevsky publicly admitted that he signed the paper about cooperation with the KGB under the pseudonym Arthur - the Kagabashniki threatened to disclose some details of intimate life and, as a result, problems in the zone. “Despite the fact that I did not conduct any criminal activity, I do not know any secrets - I decided to testify. After we talked private, the gabesh ordered to repeat all this with a lawyer and gave me a signature of cooperation on a signature, ”Palchevsky wrote on his Facebook page.
Palchevsky - signed, and a half - showed the "Cacron". They are not in prison. Kuntsevich was tortured, and he was in prison. Today 16 people remained in the pre -trial detention center. What happens to them there is no one knows. What those who came out are silent about - no one knows either. Cooperation with the KGB is not related to the case file, so Palchevsky did not violate the non -disclosure subscription. Everyone who came out is also not violated. Only Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei says that he sends the case materials to Brussels, which in Minsk are not talked about aloud.
Statkevich, who spent almost five years after the 2010 presidential election, said: “We came to this, including thanks to the“ good ”politicians in the West, who decided that there was liberalization and untied the hands of the Belarusian regime, setting a sense of impunity in it.”
On May 23, the UN specialist in Belarus Miklosh Harashti published his new report, in which he admitted: the Belarusian authorities returned to the practice of large -scale repressions.
