Russian actress Elena Yakovleva was banned from entering Ukraine for three years. This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Ukrainian border service.
According to the agency, Yakovleva was denied entry due to her visits to Crimea in 2015-2016 “bypassing official checkpoints”, that is, through Russia.
Yakovleva was traveling to Kharkiv along with other actors from the play "Territory of Love", which was to be played on May 24 at the Kharkiv National Opera and Ballet Theater, and on May 25 in Kiev.
The Kharkiv edition of "GH" reports with reference to the actress that she was not allowed "together with the entire troupe." The performance was cancelled .
Yakovleva told RBC that she was “not aware” of the adoption in Ukraine of a law on sanctions for visiting Crimea through Russia. “I went to my parents, brother and other relatives who live in Kharkiv,” she said.
