Ombudsman Moskalkova called the vote on the demolition of houses in Moscow premature
Tatyana Moskalkova, Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, considers it premature to hold a vote on the demolition of houses as part of a renovation program in Moscow. This is stated in a statement published on the Ombudsman's website.
Residents of Moscow, according to Moskalkova, will have to make a decision that in the future "may significantly affect the quality and conditions of their life."
“In order for this difficult choice to be deliberate and balanced, it is necessary to clearly and clearly understand the conditions under which the resettlement of houses will take place,” the Ombudsman points out.
These conditions should be determined by the federal law on renovation, which is under consideration in the State Duma. According to Moskalkova, before the adoption of the law, "it is premature to offer citizens to decide the fate of their homes and their future."
The federal law regulating the mechanisms for implementing the renovation program has not yet been adopted. The relevant draft law, adopted by the State Duma in the first reading, received a significant number of comments and proposals.
