Google warned Durov about an attempt to hack email by pro-government hackers

Google warned the founder of VKontakte and Telegram Pavel Durov about an attempt to hack his mail, he reported this on Twitter.

Durov was sent a notice that “government-backed hackers may have tried to steal his password.”

“I never use Gmail for important things, but somehow I’m not surprised,” he noted.

Google began showing users notifications about government-backed email hacking attempts back in 2012, but in March 2017, the number of such cases increased noticeably, and many journalists and scientists received it.

The TechCrunch publication emphasized that the appearance of such a notification does not mean that the user has been hacked, and advised to use two-factor verification, update the software, be more attentive to the links that the user is going to follow and not panic.
