The Investigative Committee will check the stepmother of the boy detained yesterday under the article of attack on police officers

The Investigative Committee reports that it will conduct an investigation into the detention of the boy who was reading Shakespeare's poems in the center of Moscow on May 26.

The department intends to check not only the actions of the police, but also the child’s stepmother. According to the Investigative Committee, the actions of the woman who tried to prevent the child from being taken to the police department may contain signs of the use of violence against a representative of the authorities (Article 318 of the Criminal Code).

“We are studying a video recording in which a woman interfered with the actions of police officers in the performance of their official duties, to determine whether her actions contained signs of a crime under Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation,” is written in the press release of the Investigative Committee.

The committee also noted that information about the incident “disseminated in the media, including by interested parties, is premature and may be biased.”

Yesterday, May 26, the police detained a child reading Shakespeare's poems on Arbat. The boy was with his stepmother, who was sitting on a bench not far from his stepson (previously it was erroneously reported that it was his mother). A report was drawn up against the father who arrived at the department under Article 5.35 of the Administrative Code (failure of parents to fulfill their upbringing responsibilities).
