The court fined two detainees with boxes for appeals about the persecution of gays in Chechnya

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow fined 10,000 rubles for two activists who were detained on May 11, when they planned to submit appeals to the Prosecutor General's Office in connection with the persecution of gays in Chechnya. This was reported to OVD-Info by Denis Shedov, lawyer of the Memorial Human Rights Center.

Judge Alesya Orekhova found Alexander Alekseeva and Nikita Safronov guilty of an offense under Part 5 of Art. 20.2 (Violation by a participant of a public event of the established procedure for holding a meeting, rally). Initially, they were charged with organizing an event without filing a notification (part 2 of article 20.2), but at the meeting the cases were reclassified.

The hearings on the cases of Marina Dedales and Valentina Dekhtyarenko were postponed to 15:00 on June 21.
