The former dictator of Panama Manuel Noriaga died

The former dictator of Panama Manuel Noriaga died at the age of 83.

This was reported by Reuters with reference to the current president of the country, Juan Carlos Varell Rodriguez. Rodriguez wrote about the death of Noriegi on Twitter.

Reuters clarifies that in 2017, Noriaga underwent surgery on the brain.

Noriega led Panama from 1983 to 1989. He was overthrown as a result of the US military operation. Since 2011, he was serving an imprisonment in the Panama prison on charges of political murders.
