On May 31, the Moscow City Court refused to satisfy the appeal of the defense of Dmitry Krepkin, a participant in the March 26 Case, against the decision of the Basmanny Court to arrest him until July 16, 2017. “The court’s decision is recognized as legal and justified. The defense’s appeal will be rejected,” judge Natalya Borisova announced the decision.

During today's court hearing, Krepkin's lawyer Ilnur Sharapov asked the Moscow City Court to cancel the decision made earlier by the Basmanny Court to take Krepkin into custody and assign him house arrest as a preventive measure.

“I’m not going to make my life more difficult by hiding from the investigation. I don’t know any of the victims, investigators, etc., and I’m not going to put pressure on them,” Krepkin supported his lawyer’s petition in court.

The representative of the prosecutor's office, on the contrary, asked that the decision of the Basmanny Court be upheld and the complaint not satisfied, which the court ultimately did.

The arrest of Dmitry Krepkin became known on May 24. He was detained on May 14, and on May 17, the Basmanny Court arrested him until mid-July on charges of using violence against a police officer: according to investigators, he hit a police officer in the leg. The accused himself claims that he hit not the policeman’s leg, but the police baton.

“Out of powerlessness, realizing that it was impossible to touch the police, he kicked the rubber baton of the policeman who was swinging at him,” said his lawyer Ilnur Sharapov. He argued that the video evidence from the investigation did not show the blow.
