Osmaev and his wife Amina Okuev agreed on an interview with French journalist Alex Verner from the Le Monde newspaper in Kyiv on Kirillovskaya Street.

The Interfax-Ukraine agency, citing the communication department of the Kiev police, reported two victims with gunshot wounds on Kirillovskaya Street at 16:49, without specifying their names.

Director of the Department of Communication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Artem Shevchenko called the incident on the hem of "a daring and insidious enemy attempt on patriots of Ukraine, ATO participants, volunteers who in 2014 defended the country in the ranks of the Kyiv-2 police battalion.

In March 2014, the accused of attempted Putin Osmaev asked Ukrainian citizenship. In February 2012, he was detained in Odessa on suspicion of involvement in the explosion on January 4, 2012 in an Odessa apartment. Osmaev escaped a real term, although he pleaded guilty. The court found that the deadline that he spent in custody while the investigation was sufficient as a punishment. The accusations of attempting to Putin were removed from him, and on November 18, 2014, after two years and nine months of imprisonment, he was released .

In February 2015, Osmaev became the new commander of the Johar Dudaev international peacekeeping battalion, who is fighting in the Donbass on the side of the Ukrainian authorities, after the death of this position of Isa Munaev. His wife Okuev is the press secretary of the Dudaev battalion.
