
Today, June 2, in St. Petersburg at the age of 55, the choreographer-refiter of the Mariinsky Theater Sergey Vikharev died.

Sergey Gennadievich Vikharev was born in 1962 in Leningrad, in 1980 he graduated from the Leningrad Academic Choreographic School named after A.Ya. Vaganova was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theater named after S.M. Kirova (since 1992 - the Mariinsky Theater), in 1986 he became her soloist.
He performed many roles in the performances of the classic repertoire, also danced in the performances of the independent troupe of Alla Sigalova, in the ballets of Boris Eifman, Alexander Polintsev, Vadim Karelin.
In 1987-1988, Sergey Vikharev was a teacher-trainer of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, in 1999-2006-the main choreographer of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater, and since 2007-the choresterers of the Mariinsky Theater.
In the Mariinsky Theater, Sergey Vikharev carried out the reconstruction of ballets “Sleeping Beauty”, “Bayaderek”, “Awakening of Flora”, “Carnival”, “Petrushka”, was a dance director in the opera “Life for the Tsar” (director - Dmitry Chernyakov), reconstructed ballets in the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theater (“Solchec Precaution ”) and in the Bolshoi Theater (“ Coppelia ”).
Sergei Vikharev put ballets and ballet scenes on the stage of the La Scala Theater in Milan, the Hermitage Theater in St. Petersburg, the Carls Felicha Theater in Genoa, the K. Bayseitova National Opera and Ballet Theater and the Ballet Academy in Tokyo.
Laureate of international competitions in Varna (1980) and Moscow (1985), laureate of the Baltika Prize (1999), winner of the Golden Mask National Theater Prize (2002, 2008), Honored Artist of Russia (2002).
