Valentina Cherevatenko, the head of the Novocherkassk human rights organization “Union “Women of the Don”” was charged with “malicious” failure to comply with the requirements of the law on “foreign agents” (Article 330.1 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona writes about this. The organization was included in the register of “foreign agents” in 2014.
“The investigation lasted for a whole year. I absolutely do not admit my guilt. We defended ourselves and continue to defend ourselves. The cases are in the European Court,” she emphasized.
A criminal case has been initiated against Cherevatenko under Art. 330.1 of the Criminal Code (“malicious” evasion of the law on foreign agents), the first in Russia. The investigation believes that Cherevatenko registered the Women of the Don Foundation, received funding from the German Heinrich Böll Foundation and deliberately did not apply to include her organization in the register of foreign agents.
