According to the situational-analytical center of the Ministry of Energy, due to a thunderstorm and strong wind at a speed of 15 meters per second, the first and second circuits of the dead-end 110 kV overhead lines “Pervouralskaya - Kapralovo” were simultaneously switched off. “As a result, some of the region’s household consumers (about 30.4 thousand people) were left without power supply,” the center said, RIA Novosti reports .
Residents of 12 urban districts and the cities of Revda, Verkhnyaya Pyshma and the Slobodo-Turinsky municipal region were left without electricity. It is reported that the thunderstorm front caused quite serious damage, and the most severe situation occurred in the Gornouralsk urban district.
The SOVA rescue service reports that due to strong gusts of wind, a 30-meter cell tower collapsed in Yekaterinburg. The incident occurred on Gubakhinskaya Street. Trees were also reported to be uprooted and roofs torn off by the wind.
