Ex-director of the library of Ukrainian literature received 4 years conditionally

The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sentenced the ex-director of the library of Ukrainian literature Natalia Sharin to 4 years in prison. She was accused of exciting hatred and enmity (Article 282 of the Criminal Code), as well as the embezzle of the property entrusted to her (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code) in the amount of 2.178 million rubles. This was reported by RAPSI.

The preventive measure in the form of house arrest was canceled. Sharina does not agree with the verdict, her lawyer will appeal.

Earlier, the prosecutor asked the Sharin to be sentenced to 5 years in prison.

According to investigators, in 2011-2015, Sharina distributed the book by the leader of UNA-UNSO (Ukrainian National Assembly-Ukrainian People's Self-Defense) Dmitro Korchinsky, recognized as extremist material, and also conducted “anti-Russian and anti-Russian propaganda” using other printed products. The accusation of the embezzlement of Sharina was presented later: allegedly she paid for the services of lawyers from budget funds and fictitiously arranged two lawyers to work.

Since October 2015, Sharina has been under house arrest. On May 25, the investigation in her case ended.
