1922 Creation of Glavlit

95 years ago, on June 6, 1922, by decree of the Council of People's Commissars in the People's Commissariat of Education, the Main Directorate for Literature and Publishing (Glavlit) was created, which was responsible for state policy in the field of censorship. It was forbidden to agitate against the Soviet regime, divulge military secrets, incite public opinion by reporting false information, incite nationalist and religious fanaticism, and pornography.
