The court arrested an adherent of the Church of Scientology in St. Petersburg

The Nevsky Court of St. Petersburg arrested Anastasia Terentyeva, a follower of the Church of Scientology, until August 5, reports . Fontanka

According to the FSB, Terentyeva and four other people are involved in illegally earning 276 million rubles and humiliating the social group “Sources of Trouble.” The investigator did not specify what kind of social group this was.

"Fontanka" suggests that we are talking about adherents of the faith, who are classified as "Potential sources of trouble", deprived of some religious benefits and subject to disciplinary sanctions.

The criminal case against St. Petersburg Scientologists has been ongoing since April 2016. According to the FSB, over the four years of activity, the organization earned 276 million rubles from the sale of the Dianetics: Evolution of Science and Mini-Hat courses. The money is considered to have been obtained as a result of illegal business activities.

On June 6, the FSB conducted a search at the central office of the St. Petersburg department of the Church of Scientology on Babushkina Street. The actions took place within the framework of the case of inciting hatred (Article 282 of the Criminal Code), organizing an extremist community (Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and illegal entrepreneurship (Article 171 of the Criminal Code).

At the end of March, investigative actions took place at the “Control Center for the Dissemination of Dianetics and Scientology” in the Moscow region. Then a source from RIA Novosti said that earlier searches had been carried out in the Ural center. Details of the case were not reported.

The basis for the case was “the multimillion-dollar earnings of the St. Petersburg community from the sale of educational programs to new adherents”; Thus, Scientologists were engaged in “shadow entrepreneurship.” No arrests have been reported in this case.
