The planet Crypton was invented by Jerry Sigel and Joe Schuster. It was first mentioned in the comics of 1938. According to the plot, Krypton was destroyed immediately after Superman departure from the planet. Cryptons were a dominant race on the planet, some of them live on Earth.
Initially, it was assumed that civilizations and race of crypton died as a result of the explosion. Only the child of Kal El survived, who was sent to the ground on the spaceship of his father Jor El. According to other versions, among the survivors were also Crypto (Super Dog), Super Gerl, her parents, Beppo Super-Sleep and prisoners of the phantom zone.
