New Moscow

In 2017, photo projects on colta.ru are divided into several blocks. The third of them, called “graduates”, will present the diploma and final work of students graduating from educational programs related to the study of photographic medium.

In this publication, we present the project of Alexander Anufriev, a graduate of the Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia named after Rodchenko (diploma leader - Igor Mukhin), dedicated to life on the outskirts of Moscow.

From the author

In 2016, I moved to the residential complex on the outskirts of Moscow, seven kilometers from the Moscow Ring Road. The road to the center has become a whole trip with obstacles - round -the -clock traffic jams, half an hour -long lines on the minibus to the metro and trains, oversaturated sounds and smells.

When moving, I was glad that I would live closer to nature, that she is very close to my new building. But it turned out that the nature here is completely wild and it would not be possible to go for a walk in the forest in sneakers. In order to overcome blockages from dirt and broken branches, hunting clothes and shoes are needed. And if you take into account that there is nothing around, except for grocery stores and pharmacies, the area generally turns into a place where you come, only to spend the night.

The photo has become my way to integrate into this reality. I was interested in the first residents of the new small city, full of hopes for the future, which is built simultaneously with multi -storey complexes. I began to walk around this new Moscow, finding my heroes: workers whose forces are built by the future of several generations, young mothers with children, bored men who arrange barbecue on the wasteland near the house. I sought to fix the starting point of the new life of immigrants, one of whom I am myself. Show the state of incompleteness and permanent construction, in which the district will be for more than one year. Therefore, the whole series was shot on the street. This is a social landscape of our time and our country with its vast expanses and household disorder, its incompleteness and promises.
