"Rain": Murada Amriev is taken to the border of Russia

Murad Amriev’s mixed martial arts champion was taken to the Russian border from the police department of the Belarusian city of Dobrush, the Rain TV channel reports. His lawyer Petr Zaikin said that human rights activists do not know where the athlete is now.

Earlier, local authorities said that Amriev will be in the police department "until the organization of the transfer" to Russian law enforcement agencies. Amriev complained that the police were not letting a lawyer to him. The athlete said that he is trying to ask for political asylum from the authorities of Belarus.

The statement of the human rights group Freedom House, published on June 8, says that Amriev can be killed. The fact that the athlete is in mortal danger was also stated by Amriev’s parents. On the night of July 8, Amriev, who escaped the day before from the building of the Bryansk prosecutor’s office, was detained by border guards near the Belorussian city of Dobrush and transferred to Gomel. The authorities of Belarus said that Amriev will be given to Russia.

On June 4, the athlete was removed from the train and detained by police in the Bryansk region. A group of capture from Chechnya arrived there, which was supposed to transfer Amriev to the territory of the republic. According to Novaya Gazeta, in 2013 Murad Amriev told human rights activists about torture, which he was subjected to in one of the branches of the Terrible Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to the athlete, in this way the police tried to force his older brother to return from Germany to Chechnya.
