The Managing Director of Rusnano Investment Activities Andrei Gorkov was detained in Moscow "after he purchased a ticket for departure abroad." This was reported on June 10 on the website of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
A criminal case of abuse of powers has been instituted against Gorky (part 2 of article 201 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Now the issue of charges is being decided; Investigators intend to petition for detention.
According to the investigation, due to Gorky’s actions, Rusnano lost its own funds worth more than 738 million rubles. In 2011-2013, he unlawfully placed the money of state-owned companies in the Smolensk Bank “under the guise of settlement cash services, and in fact in order to finance the bank’s activities”. In December 2014, a license was withdrawn from a financial organization, and before that, assets (real estate for 400 million rubles) were withdrawn from it in favor of his brother Gorky.
In Rusnano, Gorky’s detention has not yet been commented. Lawyer Alexander Asnis, representing the interests of the company, told Interfax that Rusnano will formulate their point of view on what happened “as additional information enters”, which is not enough.
In relation to the former head of Rusnano, Leonid Melamed is underway a waste (part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The damage from his actions is estimated by a consequence of 220 million rubles. At the end of May, Melamed was sent a second time under house arrest in connection with this case.
In April 2017, Kommersant wrote about the completion of the investigation against the leadership of the Smolensk Bank. The top managers of the bank, including its owner Pavel Shitov, are accused of deliberate bankruptcy of a credit institution and withdraw more than 600 million rubles from it before the recall of the license.
