In total, about 700 people were detained in the city center. Navalny himself did not get to Tverskaya: he was detained at the entrance of his own house.

The agreed rally on Sakharov Avenue did not begin for a long time. Until 14:00 people - and about two thousand people gathered - they simply were not allowed for fences. In the crowd there were volunteers of the Corruption Fund, they warned that there would be no rally here and everyone needs to go to Tverskaya.

In the absence of supporters of Alexei Navalny, the audience decided to rally against the renovation program. The police were not opposed, for some reason they did not allow people from the headquarters of the candidate for municipal deputies Dmitry Gudkov-they were forbidden to collect signatures here. “They told me when they saw that I was standing with the tablet:“ Come out of here, the girl, ”one of the volunteers complained about the police.

People went through the framework of metal detectors and gathered in a circle under a red ball hanging in the air with the inscription "There is no renovation." Finally, another activist came out onto the stage and said perplexedly: “I came to a rally against corruption, but got to a rally against renovation.” At 16:00, Violetta Volkova asked everyone to disperse, since the rally time was over, at 16:20 it was already empty and calm on the avenue.

Supporters of Navalny began to approach the framework of metal detectors on Pushkinskaya Square by two in the afternoon. Under the cry of the crowd "Shame!" They clapped with each other with their elbows and began to pure the people who were already standing on the Tver in the direction of the Kremlin.

The delighted crowd began to chant with a vengeance and rushed towards the passing on the Tver holiday, but the riot police, which were walking with the line, did not allow to go forward.

People in the left flank of the crowd were especially distinguished by coherence. Some young man climbed onto a wooden house of reconstructors. They patted him approvingly, after which several more guys with the Navalny 2018 and Russian flags climbed into the houses.

The crowd of compressed from all sides continued to slowly move up the Tverskaya. “Do not say later that we ourselves went to the Kremlin, you pushed us,” the young man joked, whom riot police gently pushed. Two young girls (both Anastasia) gave an interview to foreign television: “This is my country, I am walking here, I don’t shout anything. Of course, I'm not afraid that they will detain me. ” At this time, several police officers left Kozitsky Lane. Ahead of them, a man with chubby cheeks and in a helmet was a shouting, he chose a man in the crowd (mostly subtile young men), and his colleagues silently grabbed his hands and led him to the lane. At the same time, other people still tried to rejoice at the holiday: they approached the reconstructors, took pictures with swords and in chain mail, questioned a massive wooden rook standing right in the middle of Tver. Nearby was the theatrical battle of two Russian soldiers-under the slogans "Russia without Putin!" The riot police, who were not engaged in the detention of the townspeople, peacefully talked with the protesters, advising not to go to stocks, but to walk with the girls, and asked for "not to crush heroes."

In the crowd squeezed on all sides, almost only protesters remained. Realizing that now the site will be cleaned, young people - probably high school students and students - clung their elbows and began to shout: "We will not give their own." They moved to the police, stopping a few meters from them. In response, the riot police gathered in a small heap and rushed to the young people, throwing up the batons. The crowd crashed into the reconstructor house, the hay flew in all directions, several surroundings of wood fell. From the side of the lanes, the riot police line moved and for 15 minutes squeezed out the remaining people first to the sidewalks, and then - back to the Tver and passionate boulevard. By five o'clock on the Tverskaya section from the Pushkinskaya metro station to the Moscow store, only police officers remained, fighters of internal troops and reconstructors in chain mail. The latter looked sadly at what was happening and complained that the protest “spoiled their holidays”.

At the same time, on Tver Boulevard, the holiday continued. They sang “Kalinka-Malinka” from the stage, and the walking Muscovites ate Shshlyk, looking puzzled at the protesters, who were squeezed out by the police in full combat uniform. "Maybe there was a rally somewhere?" - they suggested.

The protesters tried to continue the action on Tver Boulevard, but they were detained under the approving comments of passers -by, which called for "not to spoil their holiday." The presenters on the stage did not pay attention to the police, congratulated everyone on Russia's Day, and the speakers rejoiced that "everyone gathered here today."
