SK: Kratovo shooter left two suicide notes

In the barn of former Emergency Situations Ministry employee Igor Zenkov, who opened fire on residents of Kratovo near Moscow, and then for a long time fired back at the security forces, “a whole arsenal” was discovered, the Investigative Committee said in a statement .

Investigators also found two suicide notes. Their contents have not yet been disclosed.

During the inspection of Zenkov’s barn, “a whole arsenal of weapons and ammunition” was discovered: a Mosin rifle, a Walter signal pistol, a sawn-off double-barreled shotgun, a Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh), an American Peabody-Martini rifle, a Japanese Arisaka rifle, RGD 33 grenades , M39 and M24, two mortar shells of 50 mm caliber, a smoke mine of 82 mm caliber, two rifled barrels, fuses, magazines, two 150 mm artillery cartridges.

“Currently, due to weather conditions, the inspection of the ashes has been suspended, and therefore the remains of the attacker’s mother have not yet been found,” the Investigative Committee notes.

During interrogations, Zenkov’s neighbors said that they had no conflicts with him. Neither law enforcement agencies nor local government bodies received any complaints from him.

The body of 50-year-old Igor Zenkov with a Mauser pistol on his chest was discovered in a gas well in the courtyard of the house a few hours after the start of a large-scale special operation in which National Guard and police officers took part. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the shooter was killed, but later sources of the Kommersant newspaper admitted that he could have committed [Roskomnadzor].
