Earlier it became known that Maslyaeva, who is charged with Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud), admitted her guilt and made a deal with the investigation. Former director of the Seventh Studio Yuri Itin is also accused of fraud. According to Republic , Maslyaeva has already testified about cashing out 100 million rubles for the Seventh Studio through shell companies owned by Maslyaeva’s acquaintance Valery Sinelnikov.
As part of the investigation into this case, at the end of May, security forces conducted searches in the apartment of director Kirill Serebrennikov, as well as the Gogol Center theater, which he directs. Serebrennikov is a witness in the case.
