The sanctions policy of the West in relation to Russia and Belarus acquires a systemic character and becomes similar to the "genetic rejection" of the Slavs. This was stated by the State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Interfax reports .

“This is already beginning to cross some faces of the reasonable, and you can suspect those who are behind these sanctions, in the fight against the Slavs,” said Volodin. “We were going through it. I would not want to think about it, but such thoughts appear,” said Volodin.

Answering the question of what, in his opinion, this attitude may be connected with, the speaker said: "It is precisely not clear what this is connected with. Because there is no reason for this. We must ask what they have, that they do not love (Slavic. - Ed.) Nations."

Volodin believes that the West supports protests that take place in Russia, hoping that this will “warm up” the situation in the country. “It is clear: the worse, the better. Therefore, they support. This is also one of the ways of struggle and satisfaction from what they burned,” said the speaker.

“But in general, when we are talking about Russophobia, today we can already talk about it about all the Slavs,” Volodin emphasized.

On Wednesday, Volodin at the head of the Russian delegation flies to Minsk, where a meeting of the parliamentary assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia will be held under his chairmanship.

On Tuesday, US President Donald Trump extended for another year sanctions against a number of members of the Belarusian government. It is noted that this is "with the actions and policies of certain members of the Government of Belarus and other persons who undermine democratic processes and structures in this country."

On June 1, Putin, at a meeting with the editors of international news agencies, said that in some countries, Russophobia is whipping over the edge . “In my opinion, this is due to the fact that the multipolar world is affirmed, and the monopolists do not like this,” the president said. “This is not least due to the struggle of Russia for its interests. I want to emphasize, for my legitimate interests.”

“How will this continue for a long time? I think, after all, I hope in any case, that not so long and not endlessly, if only because the awareness should come that it is counterproductive and harms everything.
