Russian boxer Georgy Kushitashvili, who was going to Kharkiv for the European Championship, was not allowed to enter Ukraine.
He was traveling by train with the Russian Boxing Federation's press officer, Vlada Romanova, several fans, and two Life journalists. Everyone was not allowed into Ukraine, since they had previously been in Crimea without the permission of the Ukrainian authorities.
The Russian side assures that the Ukrainians promised that the athlete would not have problems with entry. Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation Umar Kremlev suggested that Ukraine wants to get rid of a competitor in the category up to 81 kilograms.
“We had letters of guarantee from Ukraine and AIBA, from the European association. We sent a delegation with confidence that everything will be fine. The lists were checked, we were told that everything was fine, ”said Umar Kremlev, Secretary General of the Russian Boxing Federation.
