In the Moscow hospital at the age of 88, actor Alexei Batalov died. It is reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda.

Batalov has been in the hospital since January of this year, after he broke the neck of the thigh. On Wednesday, the priest communed the actor. The patient died at 6 a.m. in a dream.

The actor was born in November 1928 in Vladimir. In 1944 he made his debut in the cinema, starring in an episodic role. In 1950 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School. In different years he worked at the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, Moscow Art Theater, at Lenfilm. He taught at VGIK.

Batalov starred in dozens of films, including the Rumyantsev case (1955), “Cranes fly” (1957), “Nine days of one year” (1961), “Purely English Murder” (1974), “Moscow does not believe in tears” (1979). He also worked as a film director (among the productions - "Overcoat", 1959) and screenwriter.

I received many state awards - both Soviet and Russian authorities. In particular, in 1979 he became a hero of socialist labor.

For many years he was the secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR. He headed the All -Russian Central Executive Committee on Prizes in the field of literature, art and journalism. He worked in the Soviet Committee for the Protection of the World and the World Foundation.

On March 11, 2014, he signed a collective letter of Russian cultural figures in support of the occupation of Crimea.
