An eleventh-grader from St. Petersburg is suspected of violence against a police officer at a protest on June 12. The schoolboy fell on him

Late in the evening of June 12, after the action against corruption, the office of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg opened a criminal case for violence against a government official (Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The investigation was looking for an “unidentified man” who, on the Champ de Mars, “during an unauthorized rally, punched a policeman in the face.” On June 15, it became known that investigators had detained Dmitry Myakshin, a minor activist of the city Youth Yabloko. He graduated from school this spring and was planning to enter a university.

Update 00:03 June 16. Rosbalt reports that a minor suspected of attacking a policeman at a rally on June 12 was given a written undertaking not to leave. According to his lawyer, he refused to testify.

On the morning of June 15, a message appeared in opposition telegram chats: “Minor Youth Yabloko activist Dmitry Myakshin has been detained. In the afternoon, operatives took him to the investigator. “I will connect his parents with my more experienced colleague, since I can’t cope there,” Daniil Semyonov, the press secretary of Youth Yabloko in St. Petersburg, sent out this message. According to Fontanka, representatives of the anti-extremist Center “E” detained the young man.

The victim was recognized as an employee of the patrol service of the Central District, who, according to preliminary information, had his tooth knocked out during an unauthorized anti-corruption event on the Field of Mars on June 12. The police officer's name has not been released.

Dmitry Myakshin managed to tell Open Russia that he was detained in the morning at the door of his apartment. The student was going to the Unified State Exam - on June 15, schoolchildren took the oral part of the foreign language exam. “As for the rally. Then I climbed onto a hill, and riot police began to surround me. They ran at me, I jumped, six police officers knocked me down, and apparently one fell, tripped, and his tooth fell out,” Myakshin told his version of what happened. Myakshin’s mother refused to talk to Meduza.

The moment of the incident with Myakshin at the rally on June 12 was recorded on video. The footage shows the teenager running from police along one of four granite blocks around the eternal flame on the Champ de Mars. They tried to remove him from there. Myakshin jumped down, and riot police officers rushed at him, including, apparently, the injured officer. If you slow down the video, you can see that the policeman grabbed the teenager from behind and when he fell onto the granite slab, his jaw hit Myakshin’s head. The riot police officer rose to his feet with blood on his face.

During the action on June 12 and immediately after it, Myakshin was not detained. As his colleague, the leader of Youth Yabloko in St. Petersburg, Ilya Smirnov, told Meduza, Myakshin was released for a short time - and “he managed to escape.” Smirnov said: “I know him, first of all, as a well-read person who is always ready to help. He graduated from school and was interested in electronic computer technology and programming. I wanted to enter a university in this field. It’s clear that you have to be a complete idiot or a hypocrite to claim that Dima did something like that [attacking a policeman] intentionally.”

The court has not yet appointed a preventive measure for Myakshin - it is not yet known whether he will be charged. The Commissioner for Children's Rights in St. Petersburg, Svetlana Agapitova, told Meduza that she “does not yet have details about what is happening to the student in the police custody.” “If you need any help from us, including legal assistance, we are ready to get involved,” Agapitova said.

Myakshin is the second teenager suspected of attacking law enforcement officers on June 12. His peer, a student at the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, Mikhail Galyashkin, is under investigation in Moscow. Heis suspected of spraying pepper spray in the face of a police officer. On June 16, the court will choose a preventive measure for Galyashkina; the investigation will insist on his house arrest.
