The ex-Chancal of Germany Helmut Kohl died

In Germany, the former Federal Chancellor Helmut Kol died. He was 87 years old, he died at home in Ludwigshafen. It is reported by Bild.

Kohl was born on April 3, 1930 in Ludwigshafen. In 1950 he entered the Frankfurt University Law Faculty of Law, and in 1951 he moved to the University of Heidelberg. In 1947, the future politician joined the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), held a number of party posts. In 1969-1976, Kohl headed the Raynland-Palatz Government. Since the mid-1970s, the CDs, under the leadership of Kolya, began to regain power in Germany. Being the leader of the opposition in the Bundestag, since he was able to unite around the CDS of the deputies of small parties, form a coalition and get the majority in parliament.

In 1982, Kohl became a federal chancellor, replacing Helmut Schmidt in this post. After the elections of 1983 and 1987, the coalition created around the CDS retained the majority in parliament.

Being a chancellor, since he continued the policy of European integration and strengthening of NATO, but he also strove to bring closer to the GDR.
