The State Duma supported the bill on criminal penalties for not allowing ambulances to pass through

Deputies in the first reading voted for the adoption of amendments to the law, which will toughen the punishment for drivers who did not let an ambulance pass, reports . Interfax

According to the text of the bill, a citizen who prevented a health worker from providing assistance may receive a fine of 4 to 5 thousand or be arrested for 15 days.

Moreover, drivers who did not let the ambulance pass will be deprived of their rights for a period of one and a half to two years. If the patient dies as a result of the delay, the driver will face up to four years in prison.

In the event that due to the non-passage of an ambulance, moderate harm was caused to health, a fine of 40 thousand rubles will be imposed on the violator.

The document clarifies that “obstructing the activities of a health worker” means restraint, threats, and the creation of obstacles to access to the patient.

Currently, failure to pass an ambulance threatens with deprivation of rights for 1-3 months.
