In Yekaterinburg, the regional conference of the Yabloko party to nominate Evgeny Roizman as a candidate for the post of governor of the Sverdlovsk region was canceled due to the lack of a quorum. This was reported by Ura.ru.
An hour before the conference, the chairman of the regional branch, Yuri Pereverzev, gathered delegates and, in the presence of a representative of the election commission, announced that he and nine delegates left the party in protest against the candidacy "imposed by him."
“In Moscow, it is mistakenly believed that Evgeny Roizman has retained the previous rating of popularity that he had at the time of nomination to the mayors of Yekaterinburg four years ago,” Pereverzev explained. He noted that Roizman "did not establish a relationship" with the party’s branch and did not present his program.
The party leader Grigory Yavlinsky present at the meeting suggested that local authorities pressed the head of the department. "I suppose that Pereverzev was put pressure in one form or another - whether it, a bribery, the obligations of one or another type," Yavlinsky said.
The leader of Yabloko said that the nomination of the candidate for governors will be held at the federal party bureau. In addition to Roizman, the candidacy of the entrepreneur, a member of the party, Sergei Tyurikov, who on the eve of the conference also announced the desire to take part in the governor's elections.
"I do not see any split, there is no ideological split in our party. People periodically leave the party, we wish them all the best. All living people. Such discussions are observed in us in a number of other cities," Yavlinsky noted.
“The fact that this could happen from the very beginning, but no one said that it would be easy. I am very pleased that Yavlinsky again confirmed his reputation and keeps his word,” said Roizman himself, who was also present at the meeting.
On May 16, the head of Yekaterinburg Roizman said he was going to nominate his candidacy for the post of governor of the Sverdlovsk region from the Yabloko party. Roizman was considered one of the most likely opponents of the acting head of the region Evgeny Kuyvashev.
In September of the past, Mount Roizman publicly supported the “apple” in the elections to the State Duma.
On April 17, President Vladimir Putin accepted the early resignation of Kuyvashev and appointed him the temporarily acting head of the region. The election of the new governor will take place on a single voting day on September 10.
