
The Council of the European Union approved the development of joint measures in response to cyber attacks. These measures imply in particular the introduction of sanctions, according to a resolution adopted on Monday Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the EU countries.
It was decided to develop a legal basis for the "joint diplomatic response" of the European Union for "malicious cyberismatism", including carried out at the state level. "Cyberdropulomatia instruments" will include sanctions measures, the document emphasizes.
"The EU reaction to cyber attacks will include all measures provided for in the framework of the general foreign policy and security policy of the European Union, including, if necessary, a restrictive measure," the resolution says. “It will correspond to the scope, duration, intensity, technical complexity and the results of cyber attacks.”
On June 14, it became known that the German special services were preparing to reflect the cyber attacks of Russian hackers before the parliamentary elections in the country appointed in September. In March and April, computers of the two largest German parties were subjected to such attacks.
The European Union countries have repeatedly become the target of Russian hackers. In May, the day before the second round of the presidential election in France, the postal headquarters of the current president of the country Emmanuel Macron was hacked. Attaccents published the correspondence of the headquarters. According to the metadata in the files posted into the network, it was possible to determine that the Prochremlin hacker group Fancy Bear was involved in hacking. In April, the same group was accused of reading the correspondence of the Danish military .
