The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region confirmed that the police really used pepper spray in the 33rd police station, where there were those detained for participating in an unsanctioned rally on the Field of Mars. The representative of the department explained that a 37-year-old citizen was taken to the same department for petty hooliganism. “Taking into account the medical indicators, the man was placed alone in a cell for administrative detainees. After 15 minutes, he began to behave inappropriately and tried to injure himself. In accordance with the law, the police officers used a special tool on him - pepper gas, ”said the interlocutor of RBC.
After that, according to him, those detained for participating in the rallies, who were in the police department, were taken to the meeting room to continue the proceedings. “At the same time, one of those delivered independently called an ambulance. Arriving doctors examined the woman, but they refused hospitalization, ”added the employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

OVD-Info reported that on the night of June 13, gas was sprayed in the police department where there were 17 detainees at a rally against corruption in the cell where the “violent” arrested was sitting. After that, according to the testimony of the detainees, the ventilation was turned on and the gas got into the neighboring cells. People became ill, they began to suffocate. The police officers refused to provide medical assistance, saying “it will pass by itself”, but then they were transferred from the cells to the basement, where they spent the night. The detainee, who had asthma, managed to call an ambulance, but the doctors did not examine him.
