The negotiations are attended by the Minister of Britain from the EU David Davis and the chief negotiator of the EU Brexit Michel Barnier.
As previously reported by the British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson, negotiations should prepare the ground for the “deep and special partnership”, which London wants to achieve with the EU.
As a result of negotiations, the UK and the EU must coordinate the conditions of Brexit. Earlier, the British Prime Minister Teresa May said that the kingdom could leave the European Union without concluding an agreement if the country does not arrange the EU conditions.
Davis spoke in May that the UK can leave the Union without an agreement if the EU does not reduce its requirements below € 100 billion. Financial Times wrote that it was precisely the amount that the negotiators from France and Germany decided to demand from the UK.
The head of the European Commission Jean-Claude Junker reported that the UK will have to pay about £ 50 billion (about € 58.2 billion), the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel spoke about € 40-60 billion.
The referendum on the membership of Great Britain in the Union was held in the summer of 2016, more than half of the country's inhabitants spoke out for leaving the EU. After that, British Prime Minister David Cameron resigned, and Teresa May took his place. At the end of March, May announced the launch of Brexit.
