New Kingdom, XVIII dynasty (1550–1292 BC) Deir El Medinarevo, paintingSince June 16, the exhibition “Nefertari and the Tsarits Valley, is held in the Manege of the Small Hermitage. From the Egyptian Museum in Turin ”, which presents 255 monuments and field photographs dedicated to the opening of the tomb of Queen Nefertari, the first wife of the pharaoh Ramses II.
The exhibition , organized by the State Hermitage and the Egyptian Museum in Turin, materials from the Tsarits Valley, obtained in the 19th century by the collector of Egyptian antiquities, Bernardino Drovetti and found during excavations at the beginning of the 20th century, conducted by the director of the Turin Museum of Ernesto Schiaparelli.
The key figure of the exhibition is Queen Nefertari, presented against the background of the Tsarits Valley, where the Schiaparelli expedition opened her tomb. The section on Nefertari included monumental statues from ancient Thebes, the materials found in the non -enzyme funeral chamber, and the tomb model, made immediately after its discovery in 1904.
A separate part of the exposition is dedicated to finds in the village of Deir El-Medin, where workers and masters lived, who were engaged in the carriage and design of the rocky tombs of the kings and the queens of Egypt of the New Kingdom.
The exhibition is complemented by burial papyruses from the Drovetti collection, which, probably, from Theban necropolis.
The exhibition "Nefertari and the Valley of the Tsarits. From the Egyptian Museum in Turin ”will last until January 10, 2018.
