On May 23, searches were held in the apartment at the artistic director of Gogol-Center Kirill Serebrennikov, in the Gogol Center himself and the director of Ramt Sofia Apfelbaum. After the search of Serebrennikov and Apfelbaum, they interrogated the Investigative Committee (SK).

The UK explained that searches and interrogations are related to the investigation of a criminal case associated with the “Seventh Studio” founded by Serebrennikov. According to investigators , unidentified persons from the leadership of the Seventh Studio in 2011-2014 committed the theft of budget funds allocated by the state to develop and popularize the art of the Russian Federation.

On May 24, the former general director of the Seventh Studio, Yuri Itin and the former chief accountant of the Seventh Studio, Nina Maslyaeva were detained. Currently, Maslyaeva is contained in jail, Itin is under house arrest.
