The discovery by Rosneft at the Arctic shelf of the deposit can initiate the development of the entire Arctic part of Eastern Siberia, which, according to scientists, has significant oil reserves. This was stated by Alexander Lobusev, director of the Institute of Oil and Gas Geology and Litology, a member of the commission on the development of oil and gas fields of Russia.

“The sea of ​​the Laptevs, its western part, where Rosneft has opened a new deposit, is a oil and gas pool unique in its potential. The thickness of the sedimentary cover there exceeds 15 kilometers. The prospects there are colossal. Naturally, Rosneft conducted thorough intelligence. In my opinion, they have this site for three years. Thirty -five linear kilometers they “shot” and five thousand square kilometers - that is, in principle, the site has been studied quite in detail. As for oil reserves, there they can really be large. It is possible that this is a large or giant deposit, since it is timed to a fairly large structural “trap”, so the prospects are really very large.

Of course, the Yenisei-Khatanga deflection on land is a very promising zone, well, the western part of the Laptev Sea to the Hakkel ridge is therefore a highly perpretive zone. Perhaps it is the most promising that we now have in Russia from the observed reserves precisely oil. It is not like in the Kara or Barents Sea - it is mainly expected oil reserves.

So this is the most important discovery, and it can become the beginning of the development of the Arctic part of Eastern Siberia. Congratulations to Rosneft, and not only her - the country as a whole. So far, Rosneft is just the only operator there. But, I think, other investors will pull up over time to work there, ”said Alexander Lobusev.

Recall that Rosneft during the drilling of the well-Olginskaya-1 well from the shore of the peninsula Hara-Tumus opened the oil field. The company, widespread on June 18, noted that Rosneft can be considered a discoverer of deposits on the shelf of the East Arctic.
